Why this blog exists
Growing up, I always believed in doing the right thing, and importantly, the fair thing. I cared a lot about helping people, so I knew I wanted to go into that kind of work, and I decided law was right for me. It was at university that I found my love for family law specifically, an easy favourite from the first module. I'd started tutoring for the 11+ during my time at university too, and between the two I realised how much I valued working with families and children. As an individual I'm empathetic and understanding, and I knew those were exactly the skills that would let me excel in family law. Legally Ash is where I get to keep exploring that: breaking down family law for anyone who's curious, and being honest about what the SQE pathway actually looks like from the inside.
Where I'm at
I graduated from the University of Surrey with an LLB in Law in 2022. In 2023 I started my Master's at The University of Law, on the LLM SQE 1 & 2 pathway, choosing employment law, personal injury law, and, of course, family law as my optional modules. Both of my major coursework projects were on family law too: one on divorce law, the other on surrogacy law. Having finished my modules, I'm now prepping for SQE 1, which I'll be sitting in January 2027.
A bit more about me
I was born in Gujarat, India, and moved to the UK in 2003, where I've lived ever since. I'm a Taurus through and through, and I share my days with my two cats, Pandora and Nori, who mostly supervise the revision. In my spare time you'll usually find me reading, painting (I'm quite creative), or in the kitchen trialling new dishes and learning new things to cook. I also play padel, and I'm a firm believer in both coffee and matcha, I could never pick between the two.
